THIS IS CIRCLING BACK TO THE EARLY ROOTS, BUT WITH NEW TEETH. AFTER THE FULL CONCEPT RAP/ROCK WORLD OF SLEEP PARALYSIS, MLADI AND NISI MI BITNA FLIP THAT ENERGY INTO SOMETHING YOU DANCE TO. MLADI WRAPS SMART, EXISTENTIAL THOUGHTS IN “LET’S HAVE FUN WHILE WE’RE YOUNG” LYRICS, WITH TEMPO SWITCHES AND NOSTALGIA-INDUCING ARRANGEMENTS. NISI MI BITNA PUSHES FURTHER: DANCE RHYTHMS LACED WITH FOLK MOTIFS, HEAVY, DISTORTED BUT CONTROLLED LOW END, AND THE CLEANEST MIX SO FAR.
LEANING INTO THIS MORE ADULT KIND OF FUN, THE ERA SUBTLY SETS THE SONIC STANDARD MOVING FORWARD.
Mladi is Chavke’s first open step into dance music. On the surface it tells a simple story: getting drunk, flirting, hook-up culture, pink gin and 'cajke' in the background. Underneath, the chorus keeps repeating a quieter fear (“we are young and we won’t stay like this, we are young and we won’t get any younger”) turning a carefree night out into a reminder that youth is temporary. The song treats partying both as an escape and as a way to freeze that feeling for a moment.
Nisi mi bitna follows a messy triangle between a girl, her boyfriend and the narrator who insists she is “not important” while clearly being obsessed with her. The song plays with hypocrisy on all sides: cheating, jealousy, ego and the excuse that they are “only friends”, even as late-night plans say otherwise. The repeated line “nisi mi bitna” (transl. "you're not important") works more as self-defence than truth, a way to pretend detachment while chasing exactly what he claims not to care about.
